Leadership and Faith walk together

We had a fun day today learning about Holland, Hans Brinker and also bees.  We did some cross stitching - here are links for the supplies if you wanted your own set of everything we used:  Here are some needles but I got a set of 6 needlepoint/tapestry needles at Hobby Lobby for 1.59 and you could also use a coupon on top of that.  I get these little yarn balls - they are cheapest on Amazon and there are tons of sellers with different variety of colors. I bought the ones linked in December and we've doing weaving, cross stitch and crochet with them so far.  The plastic canvas can be found in many different sizes at any craft store by the yarn section.  I hope that helps!

Next week we start studying the principle of faith and there are a ton of leaders who are great examples of faith from the founding fathers to Johann Gutenberg, William Bradford, William Tyndale, Martin Luther and Joan of Arc to name just a few.  We are going to focus on just two of these and maybe sprinkle in a few more for fun.  Most great leaders have stood on a foundation of faith and as you study the great lives of these men and women you will begin to see that pattern for yourself.  Your inspirements for this week should help you make that connection.

Inspirements
1. Watch the BYU documentary of Joan of Arc as a family and discuss how Joan showed faith.  Ask them if they think they could do what Joan did at her age?  Is it a pretty amazing story!

2. Watch this documentary of Martin Luther and Tyndale also on BYUtv entitled Fires of Faith.  Where did Luther place his faith?  Was it in the church or something else?  How did his choices prepare the way for the Restoration on the gospel?  How is he similar or different from Joan of Arc?

Optional - f you have already studied anyone of the leaders listed above we'd love you to share with us how they showed their faith.  Have you noticed that most great leaders in history DID have faith?  They were all moved to act by something beyond themselves.  We can too!

Journaling - After watching these documentaries how do you show faith in YOUR daily living?  Is there more you can do to build faith?  Write these thoughts down in your journal and what you want to do to develop more faith.

Family Discussion - Discuss with your family how the Holy Ghost prompts us to do good things, sometimes big things?  How does the Holy Ghost feel to you?  Is that the same of different than other members in your family.

Class Discussion Question:  How can you be a leader by creating a home environment where you can always feel the whisperings of the Spirit?  What can you do now?

----Family Read Suggestions----
